A Mother's Love - 38" x 52" / $4,700

I worked on A Mother's Love on and off for 15 years.
The image to the left is the focal point of a much larger work of art wherein Atlantis Rising is portrayed in the background
along with various marine life.
Emotionally this piece is about learning to love my inner child. When I did this piece I was feeling a deep sense of loss
of innocence and sadness for the little girl who I was, the pain she experienced from severe sexual abuse.
Creating this painting helped me to heal and make a commitment to my child within - to protect and love her always. To
be the most awesome mother I could be to myself.
I choose mermaids because I love the ocean and think I may have once been a mermaid. I feel safest and most alive in the
water. The only possible reason I could've had for coming ashore was falling in love with a human man, and the inevitable
desire for a sexual union that would've been rather difficult with the anatomy of a mermaid.
